■2006■(Solo: SAWA)
Sawa was performing solo acoustic sets in downtown Tokyo whilst looking for band members. A chance meeting with Takeharu Ishimoto (Song writer from the game company SQEX, the company is well known with its outstanding game series fo Final Fantasy), aka HIZMI, while creating music for the Nintendo DS game "The World Ends with You "led to Sawa becoming a band and the chemistry between the two members produced a wealth of songs suited to a band sound.

■2007-2009■(Unit/BAND: SAWA)
Naturally, Sawa and Hizmi wanted to perform as a band and Maki (Ba) and Shouji (Dr) completed the line-up in Jan and Jul respectively. Their first album, 333 was released and quickly sold out. This was followed by a sell-out Internet only mini album, Figure and Shadow . In Mid October, guitarist Zizi joined Sawa. However, due, in part to musical differences, this line-up fell apart at the end of the year.

■2010 - ■( SAWAS PHOOL)
Thanks to the love and support of fans from as far afield asMalawi and Iceland, Sawa and Zizi decided to start a new band, "Sawas Phool", so named because the band was born on April Fool's Day. Recently they got a chance to be interviewed by the American radio program "918 The FAN" and are now hard at work with the current line-up working on new material and performing on the Japanese live house circuit. The band's sound is primarily rock, but they have also performed successfully acoustic shows, allowing them to experiment with Latin American rhythms, and are continually influenced from their fans and their musical tastes. In short, Sawas Phool knows no boundaries and believes in NO CONCEPT.

Lead singer Sawa, who has lived in the US, is bilingual and has performed in both countries. She has written and performed songs in both English and Japanese, bringing a strong international flavor to the Japan Indies scene. They are currently working on more new songs to present to the world. Check them out soon!

*Phool = the word for flower in Hindi.

Why and What's ... SAWAS PHOOL ?

=SAWAS=
I added "S" in the end of my former band, SAWA. Because, I wanted to have a name that shows it's not only "me" but together with all my friends, collaborating through music.

=PHOOL=
This word came from the Hindi word, and it means "flower".
The pronunciation of this word is same as the English word "fool".

So, when somebody first heard this name... I guess many people will come up with the word image of "Sawa's fool".
>>>But wait! You've just heard the name, right
Or, when somebody first saw this name written on somewhere... maybe many people will think it's a band from India or somewhere around that area, but not from Japan.
>>>Wait! Wait!! You've just saw their name, right?
(Yea~. I like to play fool sometimes, like this..."fool" and "phool" lol
... and I think, humor is one of the most important element for the creations.) ;)

Have you seen them
Have you heard them
Have you ever get in touch with them

I'm always trying NOT to be stereotypical. To see things through a certain colored lens might give you some sort of comfort by protecting you from that certain colored virus. But at the same time, it will leave you with narrow-minded thoughts and fewer chances to explore and discover new exciting opportunities. When you see one thing from different angles and aspects, you can broaden your chances to enjoy your life in full and expand your inspirations!!!

I hope SAWAS PHOOL can be a good reminder for the "humorous" and "stereotypical", and most of all I hope you can "Enjoy" the life we create through our music.
I wish to grow this flower -- SAWAS PHOOL -- together with all my musician friends, families, any sorts of artist and creators, all my fans and friends, and especially you.
